A minimalist Mac OS X application that quickly analyzes audio tracks in order to determine the exact Beats Per Minutes of each song.

BPM Analyzer is a very easy to use Mac OS X application that can quickly determine the tempo (BMP) of any song. The app allows you to export this information to use it with other apps, or you can update the track’s ID3 tags.

Unsophisticated software solution for determining the tempo of any track

Thanks to its minimalist user interface, working with the BPM Analyzer application proves to be very intuitive: simply drag and drop the audio files you want to process, and BPM Analyzer takes care of the rest.

Right off the bat, the app will display the track and artist name in list mode, and you get to easily sort them by each criteria. Furthermore, BPM Analyzer will scan the audio files and determine the Beats Per Minute value for each song. If you use Command + R hotkey, or the Rescan option from the app’s File menu, BPM Analyzer will scan the files again and you can check of the results remain the same.

Integrate the BPM in the track’s metadata, or export the info to other apps

The BPM data generated by the BPM Analyzer application can be easily integrated in the song’s metadata by simply updating the ID3 tags with the relevant information. At the same time, you get to generate BPM reports for your entire music library, and quickly send it to the printer.

To help you perform all these actions, BPM Analyzer places a collection of relevant buttons with self explanatory designs in the top area of its main window: simply press the appropriate icon and follow the instructions.

All in all, if you want to quickly identify the tempo of a certain audio track, or if you want to conduct an analysis upon your entire music collection, BPM Analyzer proposes simple and easy to use tools that just get the job done.

Well, first you have to fill it. There are multiple tools that let you tap the beat to some song and then write the BPM value into iTunes/Music. This is probably a good method, if you have—say—10 songs.

If you have more than 10 songs, you need a tool for automatic BPM detection. One like beaTunes.

Once you have determined the BPM of songs in your library, you can build playlists based on the tempo of your tracks. It makes it a lot easier to find those slow dance, running or roadtrip songs.

Bpm

Here's how it works

  • Get the free beaTunes trial version for Windows or Mac and install it on your computer
  • Start beaTunes
  • Either select the songs you want to analyze and click on the Analyze button or go to Tools > Analyze all Songs
  • beaTunes will now show you the analysis options dialog:
  • Choose Estimate BPM, select whether you want to replace already existing BPM values (probably not)
  • If you are using Apple Music, turn on Use online resources
  • Then start the analysis
(you might also want to check the Determine color checkbox while you are at it - it will help you to create great playlists)
  • The songs are now analyzed in the background
  • To track progress, click on the Analysis/Task Queue item in the left part of the main window:
  • The progress bars in the first rows shows how much of the analysis of a song is completed
  • When the analysis is running, the Pause Analysis button is enabled allowing you to pause analysis at any time
  • BPM analysis is a one time effort that takes some time - we recommend to run it over night
  • Note, that when you shut down beaTunes and restart it, it resumes analysis where you stopped it

Pretty easy. Now would you like to analyze your music collection? Get the free trial version.
